Dear Parents/Carers,
Braidwood Central School has a proud record of offering our students opportunities to learn special skills in critical thinking. Because Julian Davies, who has run our program for debating, public speaking, media studies and ethics for well over a decade, is a volunteer, he has been restricted from coming into school during COVID 19 health emergency.
To continue to provide an introductory taste of these skills to younger students, Mr Davies, is offering a special short course to children in Years 3, 4 and 5 outside of school hours and grounds.
· The class will run once a week, on Tuesday afternoons from 3.15 to 5.00.
· It will take place over four weeks, in Weeks 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Term 4.
· It will take place Mr Davies’ gallery at 81 Lascelles Street.
· The classes will be based around thinking games and activities that provide a fun and engaging doorway to these high-level skills.
Mr Davies has working with children clearance through the Department of Education, is a trained adjudicator with the Arts Unit of the Department, and has a long record of supporting and training students who have gone on to reach regional and state finals in debating and public speaking.
